My Word of the Year- Invite
January/February is often the time of new beginnings. It seems an odd place to start fresh when the world here in the upper Midwest is cold, dark and uninviting. Yet with the new year comes a reformation of habits, goal setting, and honest attempts for improvement. If you're a gardener, you know that some seeds need that time of cold in order to fully sprout and be at their best. It's with this mindset that I go into picking my word of the year. That this word chosen in the cold, dark months will help me grow in some way later on.
This year's word came to me late. So late in fact I was beginning to think I'd be taking this year off. Let me set the scene for you. I'm sitting in church praying before the service starts, hands folded, and eyes closed. I asked God to show me my word of the year if I was meant to have one. After getting "joy" last year and then having a particularly difficult emotional year I was nervous to even ask this in prayer. But I did. The scripture readings started, and I noticed a theme, "come follow me". I pondered this over and over. Thats 3 words not 1. After a while I noted that those 3 words are an invitation from our Lord. And then I had my aha moment. That was my word, Invite.
Invite- make a polite, formal, or friendly request to (someone) to go somewhere or to do something.Similar: ask, bid, summon
Here are 3 ways I'm going to INVITE in 2024.
1) Seek opportunities to invite others to come together and share the joy in crafting.
- Hosting both in person classes and events.
- Sharing tutorials and project inspiration here on the blog and on social media.
2) Hosting quarterly Crochet alongs (CALS) to foster community with other crocheters.
-Check out this post to get all of the details on the Chubby Seal CAL
3) Show up consistently here on the blog and social media.
- You can expect 1-2 blog posts a month. Hopefully more as the year goes on.
- Regular posts, reels and more on Facebook and Instagram. I also have a few groups based on project interest. Find all of the important TR Talents links here.
No matter where you are on your creative journey you are welcome here. I hope this blog offers you the inspiration to create handmade happiness today.
If you have chosen a word of the year, please share it in the comments.
